BUCKLE & CRACK REPAIR

BUCKLE & CRACK REPAIR PROCESS

Diamond cut alloys have gained massive popularity in recent years, with many car brands now offering them as standard across a wide range of models.
These alloys are easy to spot, thanks to their sleek, reflective finish, often paired with a painted inner surface. The diamond cut effect is achieved by first applying a base coat of paint to the alloy. Then, a precision lathe with a diamond tip is used to carefully shave off a very thin layer of the alloy’s surface, revealing a smooth, shiny metal finish. This technique is sometimes called diamond turning or diamond polishing.
At Wheel Fusion, we’re proud to offer this advanced wheel refurbishment service using state-of-the-art diamond cutting lathes. These machines are known for their precision, removing only a minimal amount of material from the wheel surface while ensuring a flawless, sharp appearance.
Give your vehicle a fresh, polished look with our high-quality diamond cut alloy wheel restoration!

INNER RIM DAMAGE

The most common form of buckle, which can often go unnoticed.

Signs to look out for are vibrations or tyre deflation.

Buckle repairs on a wheels inside edge can often be carried out without the need for cosmetic refinishing.

FACE DAMAGE

The outside face of a wheel is far stronger than the inside, and therefore less prone to sustaining flat spots.

The straightening process involves heating and pressing the damaged area so it is highly likely that the painted finish will be affected. As such we would always recommend that the wheel is fully restored.

CRACKS

Hairline cracks are very common, particularly with cheaper aftermarket wheels. These types of wheels are typically produced using low quality materials with poor structural integrity. A simple pot hole impact can be enough to cause the wheel to crack. Higher quality manufacturer wheels – particularly when running on unforgiving low profile tyres are not immune to cracking. Each of our restoration facilities offer an in house TIG welding service to effectively and efficiently repair cracked alloy wheels. Cracked wheels can be welded as a service in its own right, or as part of a full restoration.
